Fourth grade castles

The fourth-graders are creating medieval castles. The focus is on architecture in detail. The details are open ended so the students, especially the boys, or having a great time with this project. They have the choice of finishing color with colored pencil and or watercolors.

Fourth grade Zentangle letter

The fourth-graders chose one letter to be the focus of their project. We talked about negative and positive space. The students created a letter and then had to create patterns all throughout the background after breaking up their picture into different parts. They then use colored pencil to color it in. Students had to choose a certain color family only.

Third grade pattern letter design

The third-graders created letter designs using and Ellison cut letter of their choice. They created Zentangle patterns on the inside of the letters and washed it with either warm or cool color background.

First grade penguins

The first graders loved creating these! We used tempera to create the background and then collage for the penguin. They came out very cute.

Fifth grade mola designs

Fifth graders used faceless paper to create a Mola inspired design. It has taken them a good amount of time but they are turning out beautiful .

Instagram selfies

After coming back from summer vacation, my students and I discussed all of the fun things we did.  We also discussed what a "selfie" is.  From there our topics lead to apps we might use to share our "selfies".  We talked about instagram and what it is used for.  We also discussed what a hashtag is and why people use them.  I talked about the search tool that it is.  Most were unaware that you can search a hashtag to find things.  The students then created a small selfie with a background that represents either a place they went this summer or somewhere they might want to go to.  We ended up gluing them all together onto a large screenshot of an Instagram page.  Since our school is Robert C. Lindsey, we called it Lindsagram!  I love how the collage selfies came out!
